Invest, trade, scale your business, boost your profile, learn, connect and discover opportunities.

The trade and investment relationship between the Middle East and Africa has been growing steadily over the past two decades, driven by geographic proximity, shared economic interests, and complementary markets. Both regions benefit from strong historical, cultural, and economic ties, as well as strategic initiatives that aim to enhance connectivity and cooperation.

Trade between the Middle East and Africa has increased significantly, with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries—especially the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar—emerging as major trading partners for African economies. Key commodities and sectors include: Energy, Agricultural Products, Construction and Infrastructure Materials and Consumer Goods and Services.

While smaller in scale, African firms invest in retail, hospitality, and trade sectors in the Gulf, taking advantage of tourism, expatriate populations, and business-friendly environments.

The Middle East–Africa trade and investment relationship is expected to expand, driven by:

  • Increasing African urbanization and consumer markets.
  • Middle Eastern diversification away from oil revenues.
  • Strategic infrastructure and energy projects enhancing regional connectivity.
  • Strengthened economic diplomacy and bilateral trade agreements.

Overall, the partnership represents a mutually beneficial relationship, combining Africa’s resource wealth and growing markets with the Middle East’s capital, technology, and strategic trade expertise.
