African Business Chamber (AfBC) is dedicated to protecting the confidentiality and privacy of information entrusted to it as part of our GDPR policy and procedure. We committed to the appropriate protection and use of personal information that has been collected online.  Our intent is to collect only the personal information that is provided voluntarily by online visitors so that we can offer the right information and/or services to those individuals or businesses.

We process your information in the following ways: If you enter your details into our website we will use your information to contact you.

Sharing your information: We do not share your information that you enter into this website with third parties without your consent.

If, as determined by us, the lawful basis upon which we process your personal information changes, we will notify you about the change and any new lawful basis to be used if required. We shall stop processing your personal information if the lawful basis used is no longer relevant.

We may share your personal data within the Chamber, affiliates, or contractors as appropriate to carry out the purposes for which the information was supplied or collected (i.e. to provide the services and products you have requested from us) or as otherwise provided in this policy. Personal data will also be shared with our third-party service providers and business partners who assist with the running of the Sites and our services and products (including hosting providers, email service providers and payment processing partners). We will retain personal data which we process on behalf of our customers for as long as appropriate to provide services and products to our customers in accordance with any agreement in place with our customers and for other legitimate purposes. We occasionally use a variety of new technologies and social media options to communicate and interact with customers, potential customers, employees and potential employees. These sites and applications include popular social networking and media sites, open source software communities and more. To better engage the public in ongoing dialog, certain of our businesses use certain third-party platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest and Google+. Third-Party Websites and Applications (TPWA) are Web-based technologies that are not exclusively operated or controlled by us. When interacting on those websites, you may reveal certain personal data to us or to third parties. Other than when used by our employees for the purpose of responding to a specific message or request, we will not use, share, or retain your personal data.

Your Rights

You have the right to access to that data. If we agree that we are obliged to provide personal information to you, we will provide it to you free of charge. Before providing personal information to you, we may ask for proof of identity and sufficient information about your interactions with us that we can locate your personal information. If the information we hold about you is incorrect, you are entitled to ask us to correct any inaccuracies in the personal information.

Email Marketing Messages and Subscription

Under the GDPR we use the consent lawful basis for anyone subscribing to our newsletter or marketing mailing list. We only collect certain data about you, as detailed in the “Processing of your personal date” above. Any email marketing messages we send are done so through an EMS, email marketing service provider. An EMS is a third party service provider of software / applications that allows marketers to send out email marketing campaigns to a list of users.

Email marketing messages that we send may contain tracking beacons / tracked clickable links or similar server technologies in order to track subscriber activity within email marketing messages. Where used, such marketing messages may record a range of data such as; times, dates, I.P addresses, opens, clicks, forwards, geographic and demographic data. Such data, within its limitations will show the activity each subscriber made for that email campaign.

Any email marketing messages we send are in accordance with the GDPR and the PECR. We provide you with an easy method to withdraw your consent (unsubscribe) or manage your preferences / the information we hold about you at any time. See any marketing messages for instructions on how to unsubscribe or manage your preferences,  by contacting the EMS provider.


Our EMS providers are Infusionsoft, Mailchimp and GoDaddy. We hold the following information about you within our EMS system;

● Email address

● Any details you share

● I.P address

● Subscription time & date
