AfBC Middle East - African Business Network (MEAfBN) is a business-led initiative aimed at driving investment and trade, increasing Middle East' commercial connectivity and strengthening economic ties, trade relations, FDI flows, education, cultural and linkages between the Middle East (Gulf Staand African countries.
The African Business Chamber (AfBC) Middle East–Africa Business Network and Trade Corridor serves as a strategic platform for strengthening economic cooperation, trade, and investment between Africa and the Middle East. The Middle East–Africa trade corridor is currently experiencing a structural reset, emerging as a major engine of South-South growth, with GCC–Africa trade flows projected to reach $260 billion. Driven by food security priorities, energy transitions, and evolving geoeconomic dynamics, the corridor is witnessing rapid expansion across physical logistics, digital finance, and supply chain infrastructure. Through its network, AfBC facilitates business partnerships, market access, investment opportunities, and policy dialogue that support sustainable economic growth and regional integration.
The trade and investment relationship between the Middle East and Africa has grown steadily over the past two decades, supported by geographic proximity, shared economic interests, and complementary markets. Strong historical, cultural, and commercial ties have created a solid foundation for cooperation, while strategic initiatives continue to enhance connectivity between the two regions. Trade volumes have increased significantly, with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries—particularly the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar—emerging as key trading partners for African economies. Major areas of collaboration include energy, agricultural products, construction and infrastructure materials, as well as consumer goods and services. At the same time, African businesses are increasingly investing in retail, hospitality, and trade sectors across the Gulf, benefiting from growing tourism markets, expatriate communities, and business-friendly environments.
Looking ahead, the Middle East–Africa trade and investment relationship is expected to expand further, driven by Africa’s rapid urbanization, growing consumer markets, and the Middle East’s ongoing economic diversification beyond oil revenues. Strategic infrastructure, logistics, and energy projects are enhancing regional connectivity, while stronger economic diplomacy and bilateral trade agreements are creating new opportunities for businesses and investors. The AfBC Middle East–Africa Business Network and Trade Corridor is positioned to play a critical role in advancing these opportunities by connecting stakeholders across both regions. Overall, the partnership represents a mutually beneficial relationship that combines Africa’s resource wealth, entrepreneurial potential, and expanding markets with the Middle East’s capital, technology, and strategic trade expertise.
